Text description provided by the architects. Located in the quiet neighborhood of Villa California in the town of San José del Rincón, with suburban villa features, sandy streets, where the leafy and aged grove of timbúes, eucalyptus and pine trees mix with the light intensity generated by sunny days and full moon nights.
The project arises from articulating a series of existing trees within the lot, with the architectural program for a single family home. This premise is the spirit of the project.
The house is designed as a series of sequences and promenades that are in permanent flow between the interior and exterior, intentionally created from the layout of the spaces, their design, the system of openings, and the importance of the interior courtyard due to its position as the true heart of the project.
With respect to materiality, we sought simple and austere tectonics, that allow us to generate a contrast as well as a dialogue with the luminosity of the exterior space and its surrounding nature, this is why “exposed brick” was adopted. Inside, wood floors provide warmth to the rooms.
In short, in this project we sought and architecture that combines the rusticity and authenticity of the materials that compose it, with a strong adaptation to the site and its pre-existing conditions, thus generating an open architecture, full of life, which for us is of great value.
